There are numerous types of mental disorders, each with its own set of symptoms and diagnostic criteria. Some common mental disorders include:

2. Mood Disorders: Mood disorders encompass conditions such as major depressive disorder (depression), bipolar disorder, and dysthymia. These disorders involve disturbances in mood, ranging from persistent sadness and loss of interest (depression) to mood swings between depression and mania (bipolar disorder).

3. Schizophrenia: Schizophrenia is a chronic and severe mental disorder characterized by abnormal thinking, perceptions, emotions, and behaviors. People with schizophrenia may experience hallucinations, delusions, disorganized speech, and impaired social functioning.

4. Personality Disorders: Personality disorders involve enduring patterns of behavior, cognition, and inner experiences that deviate from cultural expectations. Examples include borderline personality disorder, antisocial personality disorder, and obsessive-compulsive personality disorder.

5. Eating Disorders: Conditions like anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge-eating disorder are categorized as eating disorders. These disorders involve disturbances in eating behaviors, body image, and a preoccupation with weight and shape.

6. Substance Use Disorders: Substance use disorders occur when a person's use of alcohol or drugs leads to significant impairment or distress. These disorders can range from mild to severe, with conditions such as alcoholism or opioid addiction.

It's important to note that mental disorders are complex and can have a variety of causes, including genetic, biological, psychological, and environmental factors. If you or someone you know is experiencing symptoms of a mental disorder, it is recommended to seek professional help from a qualified mental health provider for evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment.
